Windows Live Writer

I promised I’d write about my experience so far with Windows Live Writer. I was supposed to do this yesterday but as with many things in my little corner of the world, LIFE got in the way and I didn’t follow through with my commitment. Sorry… So here is my take on what I’ve experienced so far using Live Writer and where you can download it for your personal use.

I will admit, I was a bit skeptical in the beginning. I had used and LOVED the blog writing/publishing tool that comes with MS Word, until it stopped working for me. About 3 months into using it with NO problems it just up and quit on me. No matter what I did I couldn’t get that no good time wasting stupid tool part of Word to function properly. SO I stopped using it… all together.

Then I found this blog Made It On Monday where the author gives an insight to how she does her blogging. After reading the things she had to say about it I said what the heck, I’ll give it a shot and see if it makes writing easier. I then went to the page where she gives a tutorial on downloading and using Windows Live Writer. I followed the instructions, downloaded it, and followed the instructions in the set up wizard.

I’m still learning al the in’s and out’s, but so far I really DO like it. As long as I can use it without being online and then schedule a post like I had done with the tool in MS Word, I think we are going to get along just fine. There are times when I want to write, but don’t want to log into blogger in order to do so. This is one of the convenient things I once again have the ability to do.

There is also some discussion about the number of pictures that can be uploaded to Blogger, and once you reach your predetermined limit of photo uploads, you will need to PAY to be able to add more. Evidently this program, Windows Live Writer, has no limits, or if they do, no one has found that limit as of yet.

So, now that I’ve stirred the cauldron and cooked up some more juiciness, go to Made It On Monday and follow her directions for downloading, installing and then using Windows Live Writer. (I’m sending you there, because her directions are much easier to understand than my jumbled thoughts would be. If I tried to show you how, you’d be MORE than confused and wanna come back here and shoot me.)

If you decide to download and use Windows Live Writer, let me know what your thoughts are… do you like it? Or not? and why …

  1. I'm a Word addict. Maybe because I know it so well. But I'm always willing to try a new thing, so one of this days, I will give Windows Live writer a go ;-)

    1. I LOVE Word and use it for everything. I was so disappointed when the blog publishing tool stopped working for me. I've done all the troubleshooting and updating and still can't get it to work. Until I found Live Writer, I was logging in to blogger each time I wanted to write anything. That gets to be tiresome after a while.

      Anyway, IF you decide to try Live Writer, let me know what you think. {Hugs}

  2. I could never get the Word publishing tool to work. I've been using Windows Live Writer for years now. I definitely love it. It has so many more options than blogger like inserting tables, different borders on images, watermarking images, the many add-ons, and more. I even use it to set up my pages, I just don't publish them instead I copy the html and paste it in blogger.

    The only downside is I always have to publish to blogger as a draft because the spacing doesn't always come out ass it looked on windows live writer.

    Other wise I love our.

    1. I've only used it twice and so far I like it. I'll keep working with it in order to become more familiar and hopefully I won't have any issues with it. Thanks for your input...

  3. I used Live Writer during my second year of blogging. I loved it, but when I lost my hard drive, I never downloaded it again for some reason. My laptop comes with it, so I fired it up just a minute ago and did a test post lol. I might go back to using it! Thanks for reminding me about it.
